Organizations must publish their accessibility plans, feedback process descriptions and progress reports on the main digital platform they use to communicate with the public. For most organizations, this means posting these documents on their website. These documents must be accessible on the home screen or homepage of an organization's digital platform, or through a hyperlink on the home screen or homepage.

Here are some principles to consider when posting your organization's accessibility plan, feedback process description and progress report on your digital platform:

  • People should easily be able to find and access these documents.
  • Web pages should have clear titles and descriptive section headings so that they are easier to navigate.
  • The purpose of hyperlinks should be evident by the hyperlinked text, even when viewed on its own. The hyperlinked text should clearly explain what information readers will find when they click on the link.
  • These documents should be easily located on the home page or the hyperlinks to these documents should be easily located on the home page.
  • Organizations can use more than one hyperlink in a direct chain as long as:
    • The first link on the home page or home screen is easily located and clearly labelled.
    • Each hyperlink in the chain is clearly labelled to assist with navigation.
    • The chain is as short as possible and reasonable.
  • Organizations should ask people with disabilities for feedback on how easy or difficult it is to find and access these documents of these documents. They should change where they post these documents based on that feedback, if need be.

Note: This information is meant to help organizations understand and meet their obligations under the Act and the Regulations. During inspections, the Accessibility Commissioner's team will assess where organizations have posted their accessibility plans on their digital platforms.
